Awaken Workshops – Wedding & Portrait Photography Workshop
The Awaken Workshop was an amazing experience for all who attended. Emily and I decided to test out our brand new Canon 5D Mark II camera along with the ability to borrow just about any lens we dreamed of since there was 100 photographers in the room! We also had the opportunity to test drive Cinevate‘s Atlas 30 Linear Tracking System. This thing is easily my favourite movie making tool out there. I can’t wait till we can pick one up for Sorlie Arts. The LTS allows you to make these incredibly smooth, dolly-like shots while panning the camera at the same time if you want to. Thanks to Amina and Justin from StillMotion for letting me play with their toys! We created two unique Same Day Edits to show at the end of each day and combined both days into this video…
This two day event saw Dave Biesse, Charlotte Leonard, Rebecca Wood, Taylor Jackson, Bryan Capporicci, Robert Nowell & StillMotion speak to the over 100 attendees on topics ranging from technique to work/life balance. It was a weekend of learning and sharing for all. New friends were made and people left feeling encouraged and excited to grow their businesses. One of the things I took away from the the conference was that we’re all on the same team and we should be doing our best to build each other up. Other photographers aren’t competitors, they are colleagues and ‘If we are booked, our number one job should be to get our friend that particular job’.
Sorlie Arts was a sponsor of the event and gave away $3000 worth of prizes including Two Free Photographer Promo Videos as well as Two $500 gift certificates for Sorlie Arts. We’re very excited to work with some of the photographers who were in attendance on their upcoming promo videos!

Celebration of Life Film
When a family member is approaching the end of their life, something to consider is creating a ‘Celebration of Life’ film in their honour. This idea could take many shapes, but the end result would be something to either project at a funeral or memorial service and to keep in the family as a priceless memory of a loved one. Rather than waiting until the family member has passed away, plan to spend an afternoon together. Sorlie Arts will bookmark a full day to drive around to different places that have meaning. Friends and Family can speak to the camera or to their family member in a sincere and intimate way.
As with any wedding video, Sorlie Arts would create a cinematic experience, offering a high quality recording of one of your family member’s last days with together with the family. What a perfect way to celebrate the life of someone you love and cherish their memory forever on DVD.
Made To Be Free
This is a trailer for a recent project that Sorlie Arts filmed and edited.
The seminar was 6 hours in length and features Christian teaching from Paul Anderson-Walsh. This is a very exciting project. For this project, Sorlie Arts filmed and edited the material and then created a three-disc package and even delivered the finished product to Paul. Here’s the the front cover.
